Lucas Lu - The Social Web is Bigger than Ever, and Yet Smaller than Ever

About this talk

What we are witnessing is the exploding of social information and connections on the internet. It has bred a completely new way for us to communicate, collaborate, work and shop. We are fortunate enough to be a part of this grand party. However, is this really the case for everybody? The social web is huge and it has many "blind spots". It has not been very kind for the less fortunate, the homeless, low-income earners and people with mental disabilities. We have to bridge the gap of digital divide before it becomes too vast and bureaucratic.

Based on this inspiration, EPIC is launching Ei3 to address immediate social issues through the power of technology and internet. Ei3 initiator Lucas will talk about some of root causes for social inequalities and look into why they are being ignored by the majority of us. Then he will officially lift the curtain on Ei3 and demonstrate to us how Ei3 will operate and why it will become a powerful social change agent in the times like this.
